NBEMS declared the NEET-PG 2026 result on 24 September, and individual scorecards open for download on 1 October. Around 2,65,960 candidates appeared this year, and the qualifying cutoff came in at 262/720 (50th percentile) for General/EWS, 244 (45th percentile) for General-PwBD, and 226 (40th percentile) for SC/ST/OBC including PwBD. If you qualified, the next question is the one no result-day article actually answers: what does a rank like mine actually get, once counselling starts? A percentile tells you where you stand among everyone who took the exam. It tells you nothing about which college or specialty that translates to -- for that you need real seat-by-seat allotment data, not a guess.
Your rank alone can't tell you that -- but last year's real data can
MCC hasn't announced counselling registration dates yet ("to be notified" is the official line right now), so nobody -- including us -- can tell you exactly what your 2026 rank will get before a single 2026 seat is allotted. What we can show you is something more useful than a guess: the real closing ranks MCC actually allotted in 2025, taken directly from the official Round 3 result PDF, not estimated from a percentile-to-rank formula. Use this as a calibration point, not a prediction -- seat counts, applicant numbers and cutoffs shift every year, sometimes significantly.

Read that table carefully: an opening rank in double or triple digits for almost every one of these specialties, next to a closing rank past 2,00,000 -- across every one of them. That gap is the entire point. These are large-seat-count specialties spread across hundreds of institutes of hugely varying reputation, so "the closing rank for Orthopaedics is 2,29,242" doesn't mean any random Orthopaedics seat is open to rank 2,29,242 -- it means the single worst-ranked candidate who got any Orthopaedics seat, anywhere, at any institute, happened to be at that rank. Your actual shot at a specific institute depends entirely on which one you're asking about, which is exactly why an all-India cutoff or percentile can't answer "what will I get" on its own.
Why we show real closing ranks instead of a predicted cutoff
A lot of "NEET-PG 2026 rank predictor" content published this week will give you a single estimated number based on last year's trend line. We do something narrower on purpose: every rank above comes from MCC's own Round 3, 2025 allotment result PDF, computed institute-by-institute and specialty-by-specialty, not modelled. What actually happens next
- 1 October 2026 -- individual scorecards become downloadable from natboard.edu.in with your own login (not just the qualifying-list PDF, which needs no login).
- MCC AIQ counselling registration -- date not yet announced. Historically this follows the result by several weeks; don't wait for the announcement to get your documents ready.
- State-quota counselling -- runs on each state's own timeline, separately from MCC's All-India Quota rounds.
Get your documents ready now -- don't wait for the registration date
The single biggest avoidable stress during counselling is scrambling for a document the night before a reporting deadline. Pull these together now, while you're waiting on the registration announcement:
- NEET-PG 2026 admit card and scorecard/rank letter
- Class 10 and Class 12 certificates (proof of date of birth and education)
- MBBS degree certificate/provisional certificate, and internship completion certificate
- Permanent or provisional registration certificate from your State Medical Council or the NMC
- Category certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST/EWS), issued within the current validity window, if applicable
- PwBD certificate from a designated centre, if applicable
- Passport-size photographs in the specification MCC's brochure will ask for, and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar/passport)
- NOC from your current employer, if you're in government service
Exact requirements are published in MCC's official counselling brochure once registration opens -- treat this as a head start, not a final list, and confirm against the brochure when it's out.
